Our Rescues
Here are some of the wonderful animals we have rescued and given much needed care to in their greatest time of need
Sugar

Sugar was presented to us in February with Gastroenteritis. She was very sick and needed to be hospitalized but her owners unfortunately could not afford any treatment so we took care of her and within 3 days she was doing great. Then with the help of a Schnauzer rescue she found a wonderful forever home.
Status: Adopted
Hope

Hope came in with 3 other puppies from her litter and they all had Parvo. Out of the 3 litter mates Hope was doing the worst. The owner could only afford to treat 2 of them and home so he relinquished Hope to us so that she would have a better chance of survival. After 6 days of being hospitalized on IV Fluids and IV medications for vomiting and diarrhea she made a full recovery. She had worked her way into one of our technicians hearts and found her forever home.

Takaya

Takaya arrived one afternoon in late May with her family. Earlier that week one of the children had fallen on this little girl and broke her lower right front leg. She was in need of an expensive surgery to repair her bone. Her family loved her dearly but they just could not afford any type of surgery so she was surrendered to us. With a donation from Chino Valley Animal Control and 2 of the CVAH employees Takaya got her bone surgery, was spayed and had her baby teeth that had not fallen out pulled. The following morning she became very sick so we took abdominal x-rays and found out she had some type of obstruction in her tummy. She was then hospitalized on IV fluids and IV medications for 3 days. On the 3 day she had completely bounced back and was doing wonderful. But only to come down with a fungus called Ringworm 2 days later. So now, with lots of medications, this little 6 month old baby is well on her way to a full recovery and has found a loving home.
Status: Adopted
Daisey Lee

Daisey, a 2 year old female Boston Terrier, had wandered too far from her home and her owners had searched all night only to find her in the middle of the road with two broken legs the following morning. They immediately brought her to us where she was given pain medication and evaluated for a much needed surgery. After evaluation the owners decided they were unable to afford her expensive surgery to fix her two broken legs. We contacted the Boston Terrier Rescue and worked with them to get this sweet little girl fixed up. Dr. Killian repaired Daisey's left Femur and her right Tibia and she is now well on her way to recovery.
Status: Adopted
Twitch

Twitch, a 3 month old kitten, was brought to us by a thoughtful client who saw the kitten crawl up into the engine area of a truck in the parking lot of a gas station. They quickly went over to the truck to get the kitten before the truck was started by the driver who did not see the kitten. Once they got the frightened kitten out they quickly brought him to us. It was a very hot day and the kitten had mild heat stroke and was terrified. We cared for the kitten, got her cooled down and calm. She is currently living here at the hospital and is ready to be adopted.
Status: Adopted
Sweet Pea

Sweet Pea, a 1 year old female cat, was found by a kind citizen who brought her to us for some much needed medical care. Sweet Pea had a broken jaw, was severly under weight and full of matted hair. It has now been 3 months and she is doing great. Her jaw is healed, she is at a healthy weight and has regrown her hair. She has a wonderful personality, full of energy and love. Her nose is gray in color and she is always twitching her ears wanting to play. She is currently living here at the hospital awaiting her forever home.

Petey, Gunner, Callie & Honey
August 2009

These four lovely babies all came in from the same household with Parvo. Their owners could not afford even home treatment and were just going to take them home and do what they could on their own. We educated the clients and explained to them that it would not be fair to them to just take them home without treatment and that Parvo is a very serious illness. They decided to surrender the four of them and the hospital took care of all financial obligations. All four dogs were hospitalized and three of them did become very ill and stayed on IV Fluids and medications for 8 days. Though some days were rough, all four babies pulled through and were spayed and neutered 2 weeks later and with the help of the Chino Valley Shelter found forever homes :)

Jehrico
September 2009

The rock in my stomach
Hello, my name is Jehrico. I am a 6 year old neutered Black Lab. My previous owner brought me to Chino Valley Animal Hospital because I was very sick. The nurses took x-rays of my tummy and it turns out I had eaten a pretty large rock and it was in my stomach. My owner took me home to see if it would pass on its own in 24 hours. The rock did not pass so my owner brought me back into CVAH. Since the rock had not moved at all, I needed surgery to have it removed. Due to my owners financial situation they surrendered me to CVAH. I had my surgery and CVAH took care of all the costs and within 2 days I was feeling great again. After I was back to my normal happy self, the staff realized that I had a pretty bad limp. So once again the nurses took x-rays, this time of my hips and knees. And it turns out I have a torn ligament in my left knee. A few of the girls here are trying to raise money for me to have the surgery to repair my ligament and I really hope that they do because I really want to find a wonderful forever home.

Purr
October 2009

This sweet kitty is a 8 year old neutered male and his name is Purr. He came in with an infection in his mouth that was causing him to be a little cranky. The owners decided they did not want to go through the process of having Purr's teeth cleaned and some extracted so they surrendered him over to us. We have only had him for a couple days now but he has been very affectionate and appears to have a great personality. We hope to find him a loving forever home very soon.
Status: Adopted
Trooper
October 2009

We call this sweetheart "Trooper." He is a 4 month old Shepherd Mix. His owner brought him into us after he had been sick for several days and he was actually trying to pass away by the time he got here. We gave him emergency care immediately and it was touch and go for several days. After a few days we were no longer able to contact the owners and they never came back in. It has now been 3 weeks and "Tooper" is doing great. He does have Neurological problems from being so sick but he is extremely happy and loving and believes he is a lap dog :)
Status: Adopted
Jingles and Holly
December 2009

These 2 sweet cats were surrendered to us because their owner could no longer afford to feed and care for them. They are both 3 years old, spayed and healthy. They are very healthy, sweet and loving. They have had eachother their entire lives so we are going to do our very best here to find them both a forever home together!
Status: Still looking for a forever home preferably together!
Jake
January 2010

This sweetheart is 12 years old and just started having seizures. The stress of the seizures and the daily medication and monitoring was just too much for his owner so she decided to surrender him to us so that he could have a second chance. We got in touch with the Boston Terrier Rescue in Pheonix and they found a wonderful foster home that specializes in special needs dogs. We neutered Jake here this week, he is doing absolutely wonderful and he has not had anymore seizures. The rescue picked up Jake the last week on January 2010.
Status: Went to the Boston Terrier Rescue and found a forever home :)
Skip
February 2010

An older man came in with this little sweetheart. He stated he had 10 others at home just like him and he was pretty overwhelmed it seemed. We offered to foster Skip for him and find him a new forever home where he can get the attention he really needs. The man graciously accepted our offer and left Skip here with us. Skip is a male and is about 2 years old. He is very scared but we are sure that with alot of love and time he will blossom into a wonderful and outgoing dog.
Status: Looking for forever home, contact us if your interested in this little man :)
Valentine
February 2010

This poor baby was brought to the home of our technician Renee one Friday morning by a concerned neighbor who found her wandering the streets alone. She was so severely dehydrated and emaciated that she could barely stand. Renee brought her into the hospital and had her examined and had blood work done. She turned out to be blind, diabetic and and have an eye infection but otherwise alright. So we started her on Vetsulin and some eye ointment immediately and in just one week she was doing much better, eating and drinking and barking up a storm :) Due to her special needs she was adopted by Sandy, one of our receptionist and is doing wonderful.
Status: Adopted
Morgan
February 2010

A client brought in this handsome boy as an outdoor cat that she feeds. He had a bad wound on his left front leg so we took an x-ray and it turned out that someone shot him and shattered his humerus. The client said he was just an outdoor cat and they could not afford the surgery or have an indoor cat. We allowed the client to surrender "Morgan" and we did his surgery that next morning because he was in alot of pain. He now is a very happy 3 legged kitty. He is about a year old and is extremely affectionate. We are still raising money for the surgery and treatments we did on him but he is doing great and is now looking for a wonderful family to love him forever. He seems to do just fine with other cats and dogs and he loves people. If you are interested in this loveable kitty please give us a call or come down and meet him :)
