Dr. Zenko, DVM
MEDICAL DIRECTOR
I was born and raised on a small farm in Connecticut with every farm animal on it. I completed my undergraduate degree at University of Connecticut and majored in Animal Science. I went on to complete veterinary school at Midwestern University. As I’ve always said, “since I grew up with it all, I love it all.” That hasn’t changed since completing vet school, I truly love all animals. My special interests are surgery and international travel to work with wildlife. I never thought I’d end up taking a job in Arizona but being an avid hiker, I’ve fallen in love with the mountains here. I currently have a Swedish Vallhund, Cowboy Corgi, German Shorthair Pointer, and a Brittany that share in my adventures whenever possible. I’m looking forward to becoming part of the family at Chino Valley Animal Hospital.

I was born in Texas and raised in a small farming community in Oregon. I graduated from Oregon State University and I am the 10th Veterinarian in my family. I have been practicing medicine in the tri-city area for 18 years. My passion is to enhance the human-animal bond and I feel I can relate to people from all walks of life. I enjoy doing orthopedic surgical procedures and physical therapy options such as our hydrotherapy treadmill, acupuncture and laser.

I am from northern Illinois, about an hour north of Chicago, where I grew up having a large assortment of pets, including Guinea pigs, rabbits, horses, birds, cats, dogs, horses, reptiles, and more.
I completed my undergraduate degree at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, and went on obtain my DVM at University of Illinois. I originally wanted to become a teacher because I absolutely love to educate, but throughout my life my passion for animals and medicine became the center of my world. I decided to persue my love for teaching through becoming a veterinarian. My special interests include soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and exotic animal medicine.
I have always loved horse-back riding, hiking, and camping, so I decided to move Arizona to enjoy the gorgeous scenery, trails, and weather. The people here are pretty wonderful too! I currently have two Shetland Sheepdogs, two Pyranese mixes, two cats, two goats, a horse, a bearded dragon, and a growing flock of adorable chickens that all fill up a huge part of my heart. I have been blessed to become a member of the Chino Valley Animal Hospital family and look forward to meeting new people and pets each and every day!

Dr. Purdy, DVM
Veterinarian
I’m an Arizona native and earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State University in 2023. Growing up surrounded by horses sparked my interest in veterinary medicine, and helping one of my own through an injury solidified my path into the field.
I especially enjoy working with pets in their golden years, surgery, and large animal medicine—especially when no two days look the same. While I primarily see dogs and cats, I also welcome opportunities to work with horses and other large animals.
My goal is to make veterinary care feel approachable and collaborative. I value building long-term relationships with clients and their pets and being part of their story (and occasionally their chaos).
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time on horseback or at home with my horses, dogs, and cats.
