Knowing When It’s Time to Say Goodbye

The bond we share with our pets is irreplaceable, making it even more difficult to determine when it’s time to say goodbye. We are here to assess your pet’s quality of life by performing a comprehensive physical exam and helping you decide if pet euthanasia is the next best step for your dog, cat, exotic pet or large animal. Your veterinarian will evaluate your pet’s physical and mental well-being by examining the following:

  • Has your pet stopped eating or drinking?
  • Can they walk or move without assistance?
  • Do they seem to be more sluggish instead of interacting with you?
  • Have they had unusual accidents around the house?
  • Does your pet have constant diarrhea or vomiting?
  • Does your pet seem to be in pain?

What to Expect with Pet Euthanasia

We will review paperwork and walk you through the euthanasia process. For some, this might be your first experience with pet euthanasia and for others, you might be too familiar with this process. Either way, we strive to accommodate you to the best of our ability. Your pet’s comfort is always one of our top priorities, so to ensure they are not stressed, we will sedate them prior to administering the euthanasia injection. Then, a veterinary technician will place an IV catheter and check in with you. Please feel free to take as much time as you need to spend with your pet. When you are ready, we will administer the euthanasia injection and place a soft blanket over your pet once you have left. We can also discuss options to memorialize your pet and are happy to do so at your convenience.
